  14. I just bought a new Sportster 28.8 internal modem. After inserting
  15. to a slot where my 2400 modem used to be, I tried all the communication
  16. softwares I used with the old modem, and none of them works?!

  18. I did not change the factory setting on the modem, so it was configured
  19. as COM2 IRQ3. I used MIRR II and pcplus with baud rate of 2400. Both
  20. softwares could not connect even I heard the handshaking noise (carrier
  21. connection signal?), and both timed out.

  23. I also tried the terminal program in the window (WG3.11), it connected
  24. alright at both 2400 and 9600 but will disconnect after I logged into
  25. the remote machine for about a minute with the following error message
  26. NO CARRIER

  28. I also installed the QuickLink II FAX coming along with the modem but
  29. experienced same problem as the window terminal program and got the
  30. same NO CARRIER message.

  32. I also tried to set the jumpers on modem to use COM4 but got the same
  33. results.

  35. I am supposed to use this modem to replace the outgoing 2400 modem and
  36. my fax machine. Any help and hint will be very much appreciated. Please
